Coaching, Teaching & Instructing
What is an Instructor?
If one takes the very simplistic approach that “we are what we do”, one is drawn to the inescapable conclusion that an Instructor instructs surfing. But what we have to ask is what we mean by “instruction”
We may define the instruction as: “the communication of an activity or sequence of actions usually in the form of commands. The acqisition of competence is based on the underlying assumption that the Instructor has both the experience and knowledge to predict the total outcome of the learners actions”.
Teaching
The student must not simply be instructed how to do it, but taught why it is done and what relevance it has to the overall picture. The understanding of these new ideas will encourage further learning.
The Instructor
Instil confidence in your students by being authoritative (and friendly), decisive and firm (and fun). This creates an atmosphere of discipline and control without losing the fun element. Discipline should not be a problem as the motivation for pupils should be strong. In addition they have usually paid money and have made a conscious decision to learn how to surf. This may vary depending on the situation and you may have to change your approach with different types of pupils. However, one of the greatest assets to a surfing teacher is that the sport is so much fun. Teach the correct way and you should rarely have any problems concerning the concentration, commitment and motivation of the students.

We have an amazing special catering for all types of surfers! R400/month gets you four 1.5hr surf lessons that include all equipment:
