Day 3 of the Roxy waiting period

Aquashot/Roxy - Coline Menard

It was a day of patience for the ASP Elite Top 17 surfers on Day 3 of the Roxy Pro waiting period, heavy rains and stormy weather combined with uncontestable conditions not allowing any competition.

Following a series of calls from event officials hoping for conditions to improve, contest director Charley Puyo was forced to postpone competition restart until tomorrow Thursday, July 14,  a promising day that will see the kick-off of the Roxy Pro Women’s Longboard event and the continuation of the Women’s world title contest.

« We had to make several calls due to difficult weather and wave conditions and eventually send everyone home as nothing was getting better, » Roxy Pro contest director Charley Puyo said. « We have a good window between tomorrow morning and Saturday so we’ll be running as many heats as possible tomorrow and catch-up with schedule..»

Following officials’ meetings, the decision has been made to split Roxy Pro divisions at both event’s venues. The Women’s World title surfers will meet at La Grande Plage tomorrow morning while Women’s World Longboard Tour competitors get their Roxy Pro campaing underway at La Cote des Basques from 7.30 AM sharp.

With five days remaining in the Roxy Pro waiting period and two competitions on the line including an ASP Women’s World title, Biarritz will soon be treated to action-packed world-class surfing, things set to restart Thursday early morning.

The Roxy Pro could see the ASP Women’s World title crowning this week as Carissa Moore (HAW) and Sally Fitzgibbons (AUS) are the only two remaining contenders.

The possibilities are as follows :- If Moore wins the event in France, she clinches the ASP Women’s World Title- If Moore places 2nd or 3rd in France, Fitzgibbons must win to keep world title hopes- If Moore places 5th in France, Fitzgibbons needs to place 2nd or win- If Moore places 9th in France, the ASP Women’s World title race goes to the US Open, this year’s final event The Roxy Pro is webcast LIVE at
