Surfing Life Hacks by Roxy Davis

Surfing life hacks that will improve your surfing lifestyle and blow your mind to why you haven’t done it sooner.
Walking to or from your surf....the dreaded broken flip-flop thong! A bread clip works well around the stem on the sole to stop it from pulling through. It should get you home. You can donate it later to the bread tag for wheel chair foundation and recycle the shoe for good measure.
We all know how putting on a wet wetsuit can put most people off from wanting to paddle out for a surf. Try plastic bags on your hands and feet when suiting up - sliding into your wet wetsuit or needing a quick wetsuit change will make your life so much easier!
Another useful wetsuit accessory is a plastic tub to stand inside while changing - no more sand in your wetsuit. The plastic tub can also be used to put your wetsuit in after your surf to keep your car dry. To avoid a wetsuit rash always keep a bottle of Vaseline in your car and apply liberally to the areas that are most likely to rash.

"Always keep a fin key, some wax and  duct tape in your car, you never know when you will need these."

Fill a bottle of warm water and take this with you to the beach. If you would like to be a little more sophisticated you can also use a camping shower to rinse off. Local beaches currently have water restrictions but generally this helps save water which is a great thing! Another home comfort for after cold surf is to wrap your towel around a hot water bottle - it really is fantastic to come out of a frigid surf and wrap up in a warm towel.
Buy a key padlock or waterproof pouch for your car key. Getting your electronic key wet can be a very expensive mistake. Another good idea is to have a normal non electronic car key cut to open your car door.  It is also far too risky to leave your key on a tyre and I would definitely not recommend doing this.
Always keep a fin key, some wax and  duct tape in your car, you never know when you will need these. Duct tape can help you keep your board sealed after dinging it. If you don't have a wax comb, a credit card works just as well to remove excess wax.
Finally keep a can of deodorant in your car as the lingering post surf wetsuit smell is never charming and you never know who you might bump into after your surf!
