WAVESCAPE FISH FRY

The Wavescape Fish Fry, presented by Pick n Pay and SASSI, brings the surfing community together for an evening of fun and fish braaing.

Come and rub shoulders with shapers, artists, environmentalists, and surfers, including celebrities with a passion for the sea.

Fish Fry takes off at 6pm on Saturday 26 November at Jack Black Brewery. The entertainment includes a curated exhibition of surfing photographs, live music by DJs Cath and Dune Tilley, a braai competition featuring four celebrity chef teams to raise awareness about sustainable seafood consumption.

There will be lank beer and food, as well as displays of surfboards. Entrance R40. Proceeds go to the Waves for Change surfing programme.

Top chefs, food bloggers and other celebrities will braai and judge in a sustainable fish braai that includes Riaan Manser, Josie Borain, Roxy Davis, John Grundlingh and Chris Kastern.

As part of the fun, there will be a digital display of top ocean and surfing photos from local surf photographers and the public from our #WavesCapePhoto2016 contest, from which we choose two winners, as well as a live painting of a board by street artists.

There will also be displays of surfboards by local craftsmen for you to ogle at, and some amazing surfboard specials. Enjoy craft beer, food stalls, and dancing later.

It costs R40 at the door, which puts you in the draw for prizes that include Surf Emporium gear, RVCA clothing, Billabong wetsuits, a new Channel Island surfboard from Keep It Simple Surf and Jason Ribbink, a brandnew York retro surfboard and lank cool York gear. #CTFISHFRY

WELCOME TO OUR 13TH FESTIVAL TO CELEBRATE THE OCEAN

As one of Cape Town’s premier summer festivals, we bring you 27 surfing and ocean films from around the world screened in two indoor locations, and our outdoor flagship, Clifton 4th Beach. Slide Night presents 10 salty tales by 10 ocean gurus. Fish Fry hosts a surf culture party and celebrity fish braai. The Artboard Project features top artists for charity and an evening of comedy, fun and fundraising. We have also partnered with Cape Town Film and Media Promotion – a division of Wesgro – to host Wavescape Shortcuts, a project to nurture film making talent. Other elements include our Beach Reach (fun, interactive day for kids to learn about beach safety and ocean conservation), and a partnership with the Sea-Change Children’s night at the Two Oceans Aquarium.
